Year 2024 marks 20 years since LUT Viipuri Prize was first awarded. This year’s prize was 11th in order. The Society for Viipuri School of Economics Vitako awards the prize with LUT University.

This year the ceremony was held on September 6 in Valkoinen Sali, Helsinki. The prize is worth 10.000 € and this year’s awardee is professor Ron Adner from the Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College, US. Professor Adner is academically meritorious in areas of entrepreneurship, innovation strategy and innovation ecosystems. He also gave us ceremony participants a lot to think about. His celebratory lecture focused on improving ecosystems, which are destroying some businesses regardless of investing or not.

The ceremony also included a panel discussion about current topics of global business. Alongside professor Adner, other panelists were professor Peter Buckley (Viipuri Prize awardee 2006) from the University of Manchester. Professor Constance E. Helfat (Viipuri Prize awardee 2014) from the Tuck School of Business. And Mrs. Teresa Kemppi-Vasama, who is the Chairman of the Board of LUT University and family business Kemppi Oy.
